Non-traditional wedding venue

Denver’s Fairmount Cemetery and Funeral Home is proud to announce the opening of their event center on their lovely 240 acre space. The new Quebec Place  Event Center is designed to host celebrations of all types including weddings, anniversary parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, birthdays and more.

The Morning Call recently reported on the growing trend for weddings and event space in cemeteries as more and more millennials are looking for space outside of religious organizations. They are looking for a non-traditional wedding venue because it better fits their ideas for true personalization, closer connection to their values as a ‘None’, or to allow for more inclusion for their unique lifestyles.

Fairmount, with the city’s largest collection of stained glass, largest arboretum, lavish rose garden, and several chapels, has already hosted several small weddings during its 126 years (yes it was founded in 1890). However, the new Q Event Center will allow for larger parties in a more contemporary space than the other chapels.

The Offbeat Bride offers several script suggestions, décor and game ideas, unusual style musings and more. With today’s brides incorporating bold colors (anything goes) & non-traditional themes like tv shows, time periods, carnivals, and using unique props like paper or jeweled bouquets, the venues must be as unique as the brides are. And if you want that customized experience for your wedding, why not consider what Fairmont has to offer?

What are some of the benefits of using Fairmount as a non-traditional wedding venue?

Several choices of indoor and outdoor wedding venue space to fit your style, personality and budget.

The Ivy Chapel

Built in 1890, it resembles a small Notre Dame Cathedral architecture from 13th Ecclesiastical Gothic. Romantic like French cathedrals, the Ivy Chapel is a Denver landmark and perfect for French, Vintage, Retro style weddings. Bring your pin-up throw back style.

Mausoleum

Houses the largest private collection of stained glass, mostly crafted by the Watkins Stain Glass Studio in Denver. The outdoor space here has been the venue for many concerts and makes a unique outdoor wedding space featuring grand columns. The Mausoleum was built in 1930 and is has a wonderful outdoor and indoor space for photos. If you are considering a Roman or Grecian style wedding, or rich velvets to backdrop with stained glass and marble, this may be the perfect spot for you.

The Chapel in the Pines

The scenery of an elaborate brick design with ivy tendrils is perfect for a horse and carriage, fur wraps, Titanic and “Downton Abbey” fans. Revive the Chapel and the past with your touch. Let the sunlight flow through the English Gothic Revival’s lancet windows. Structure, strength, opulence and fine details make this a great venue for themed or traditional weddings.

Rose Garden

Featuring over 59 variety of roses, some unique to Fairmont, a truly romantic outdoor space with an elegant gazebo for small outdoor ceremonies. Think royalty, fairy tale, Alice in Wonderland, and nature lovers in this space. You must be open minded here, however, as the gazebo sits in a main part of the cemetery. Because of this, the history and concept of “til death do us part” is beautifully illustrated here.

Q Event Center

Personalized and custom space can be arranged for the party size 50-200. Clean, contemporary space meets Colorado lodge with fireplace, stone, wood, sunlight. This multiple denomination space offers several small rooms for the bridal party to prepare before the ceremony. Indoor and outdoor space make this a truly customizable experience.

Fairmont is known for being the premier cemetery in Colorado because of their beautiful grounds and rich history. You too can build a history here.
