So your best friend is having a baby and you want to throw a gender reveal party for her. This type of party seems to be a new trend in the way the soon to be parents are letting family and friends know the sex of their baby.
A little whacky huh?  But oh so much fun.

This type of party takes a little more planning because the new mom will have to ask the ultrasound technician to write down the sex of the baby and place it in an envelope.  She’s going to have to hand it over to you without peeking of course.  You’re going to have to decide how you want to reveal the surprise to everyone.

One way is to have cupcakes made and have the inside filled with either blue or pink frosting.  When the new mom bites into it, well you get the idea…….

Another idea is to buy some pink or blue helium filled balloons, place in a large box and have the expectant mom open the box in front of all the guests.

The gender reveal party can also be paired with the actual baby shower.  What fun it would be to reveal the gender of the baby along with having the shower.  Of course some of the guests might want to know if it’s going to be a boy/girl to bring the appropriate colored gift to the shower.  I would leave it up to your friend if she wants gender specific colors for her baby or if she’s ok with neutral colored gifts.  What an exciting way to celebrate!
